It looks PRETTY good (better in real life than the photos anyways) but because of the 3D printing process, the coin's surface is very pitted and irregular looking. This was what I was afraid of, and why I'm not going with ShapeWays to sell them.

I'll keep this as my signature coin, but I'm getting a sample from CoinsForAnything next week or the week after and I'll be sure to post a picture of the actual commercial coins.

If I were you I'd keep this on display somewhere and tell people "This is one of the oldest known Equestrian Bit Coins". Its neat and not exactly untrue

I've got it in a shadow box with the first prototype of the final casting, as well as a certificate of authenticity labeling both of them as "coin 0"

I'm considering putting it up for auction at a con or something for a charity.

I really like this look for a worn coin. Has a lot of character to it.

Have you looked checked with this company:

Their sample 3D prints look really clean. They boast that their print technology can capture very fine detail.

Looks similar to my Shapeways orders. My signet rings are great but it's disappointing that flat surfaces aren't flat but are a bit pockmarked. And the detail level isn't *quite* as good as I'd like. Still, good prices.

Yeah that's what I was anticipating. Nonetheless, as others have pointed out, it DOES make it look somewhat ancient. Maybe I should find a way to tarnish this coin and make it look really really old.

But this is the pitfall of 3D printing. it's still in it's infancy and we don't yet have the technology for perfectly flat surfaces on a consumer level.

I'm really interested to know how it rolled with CoinsForAnything, it would be cool if you could keep me posted on that matter.

And yeah, too bad the resolution for shapeways metal prints isn't all that good.

It does look fairly ancient. But I can't wait to see the real deal :D
